UNIT 2: THE GEOMETRY OF THE SHAPES. PERPENDICULAR LEL LINES.

Read page number 18 of your book and underline the meanings (significados) of vertical, horizontal and oblique lines. We are going to learn how to draw perpendicular lines.

Using a compass and a ruler:

  • Draw a vertical line in the middle of a segment: dibujar unas linea vertical a un segmento por su mitad (mediatriz).
  • Draw a vertical line at one of its endponits.
  • Draw a vertical line to a segment froma an external point.

UNIT 2: THE GEOMETRY OF THE SHAPES. DEFINITIONS. PARALLEL LINES.

Now, we are going to learn the meaning (significado) of a:

  • Point (punto).
  • Line (línea).
    • Vertical line.
    • Parallel line.
    • Oblique line.
  • Segment line (segmento).
  • Angle (ángulo).

Once we understand all the concepts, let's get down to work! (¡Pongámomos manos a la obra!):

Tools: Set of squares, protractor (transportador), compass, ruler, pencil, rubber.
  • Take a recycled A4, divide it in two parts. Use one part to draw vertical  parallel lines. Use the other part to draw horizontal parallel lines. Separate each line 2 cms.
  • At the back of one of your cards draw a  picture with different figures that you create with parallel lines. You can color them with coloured pens or felt pens. Click here to find an example.

UNIT 1: PAINT YOUR OWN COLOR WHEEL

The next activity consists of filling the COLOR WHEEL  using the primary colors: YELLOW, MAGENTA, CYAN.
Materials: tempera paint (cyan, magenta, yellow, white, black), brush, plate (or recycled cardboard),  plastic glass, DIN A4 with the Color Wheel chart (Click here to get the chart)
Procedure:

  1. First of all, be tidy and organize your material (water, piece of cloth or paper to dry your brush...).
  2. Paint the primary colors, and be very careful in order to have the pure colors.
  3. Paint the secondary colors mixing two primary colors on the cardboard/plate.
  4. Paint the terciary colors mixing two seconadary colors on the cardboard/plate.
  5. Answer in your notebook the next questions:
    1. Which are the complementary colors? Write three examples.
    2. Which are the warm colors? Write three examples.
    3. Which are the cool colors? Write three examples.
